Sometimes I hate Travelling

Sometimes I hate travelling

I wrote this in my notebook last time we went to Perth (which we are about to repeat in the coming days, before flying out to Bali for a month) The actual time in Perth was fantastic, we caught up with friends and family and got to enjoy civilization for a little while. It was the trip home that nearly killed us... 

 I have a confession; sometimes I hate travelling. I hate the distance, I hate the car and I hate how we're all too tense and in a rush to enjoy the ride. Who ever said it's about the journey, not the destination clearly had not travelled with a screaming, overtired 6 month old. It. is. hell.

Currently we have been driving for 4 1/2 hours for a trip that is only meant to take 6 (and we're not even half way!)

It's dark; we're tired, hungry and beyond irritable. All I can say is, travelling produces wonderful experiences but boy can it be challenging!

I'm not sure Anthony Bourdain had a grumpy 6 month old in mind when he said this, but it couldn't be truer.

Baby Wearing Week 2013

Baby wearing is a practice that has been followed for centuries around the world, and for good reason! It encourages bonding, babies cry less (making them, and you happier!), it's healthy, provides security, it's fun and best of all it offers convenience! 

I actually shed a tear the day I figured out how to breast feed in our Ergo, it opened sooo many doors for me. I could walk down the road, do the grocery shopping and even stalk kangaroo's camera in hand, while feeding her! Also I might mention, baby wearing has always been a sure fire way to get Lilly-Mary to sleep, without fail.

Another thing to keep in mind when buying a sling or a baby carrier is to make sure it is the genuine thing! Particularly with Ergo's, there is a lot of fake's out there. We bought our's from Babes in Arms and they were fantastic. They also keep an up to date list of site's selling counterfeit sites, which you can find here

The heat of Summer is beginning to make it's way down south, the warmth causing us to crawl out of our various knit wear, like shedding a new skin. Living so close to the pristine beaches of Hopetoun, we have found ourselves driving there on  regular basis. 

Aaron has a new found passion for fishing, insisting on staying until he's caught a fish (despite the fact he hate's the taste of them)

Lilly-Mary is 6 months and ever so curious! I've learnt to watch her like a hawk as she attempts to eat the sand between her toes. I feel so happy that she's spending her baby years by the beach, as I did as a child. I hope to fill her growing mind with images of the sea and the feeling of the cool waves splashing against her skin. I look forward to the day's when Lilly-Mary can start swimming and begin to truly enjoy the full splendors of beach life.
